Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 6 Qualification in Disaster Management
  • 2-4 years' work experience in a Disaster Management
  • Valid Driver’s Licence will be an Advantage

Core Responsibilities:

  • Execute specialist operational capability, leadership to support the alignment of the divisional, departmental, institutional strategy and leadership objectives
  • Undertake the integrated institutional Disaster Management arrangements to support and contribute to the Municipal Disaster Management Framework to effect the statutory requirements.
  • Undertake Disaster Risk Assessment to support the Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Undertake Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives to support the institutions, communities and individuals “at risk” within the Municipal Disaster Management Framework and Municipal Safety at Sports and Recreational Events policy.
  • Undertake disaster relief, response and recovery initiatives to provide humanitarian relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction to life, livelihood and infrastructure
  • Collaborate in and undertake operational processes in relation to information management and communication
  • Collaborate in education, training, public awareness and support research initiatives in support of Disaster Management Framework.
  • Contribute and participate in funding arrangements for Disaster Management to increase disaster resilience and improve process for disaster relief, response, response, recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Undertake actions and activities which will support Disaster Management operational processes and procedures in municipal services delivery.
  • Support the instituting of Governance and risk management to support the principles of good government and risk management.
  • Support the financial administration processes comply with the Municipal Finance Management Act, regulations, and directives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and internal and external stakeholders that promote cross functional process delivery solutions
  • Ensure that human capital is strengthened in the process of improving performance to achieve institutional service delivery objectives
