Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Built Environment as per National Building Regulations or relevant equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
  • 10 years' experience in the building control environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implement, manage and coordinate policy, standards procedures and operations for building control and comply with all legislative requirements across the City
  • Develop operational targets in support of tactical delivery plans and organisational strategic objectives in partnership with divisional leadership, by complying with the National Building Regulations
  • Advise and develop a strategic plan for building control contraventions in line with the Departmental strategy by implementing programs geared to address illegal building related activities in CoE which include regular blitzes, issuing contravention notices and public awareness
  • Manage and advise on advertising design and development ensuring effective turnaround times and quality are adhered to. Implement and manage end-to-end building control frameworks, ensuring adherence to required standards and legislative requirements are adhered to
  • Implement and provide input into governance and risk management processes, systems and legislation
  • Monitor and enforce effective financial control, corporate governance and financial compliance in ensuring efficient resource management
  • Deliver on service level agreements that are aligned with the Batho Pele principles, monitor feedback and ensure continued customer satisfaction

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
