Minimum Requirements:

  • Non-renewable 6-month contract
  • Grade 12
  • Post Matric Qualification, arts, culture and technical
  • South African Citizen
  • Resident of City of Ekurhuleni
  • Young person 18 -35 years, but men and women over 35 years will be considered
  • Understand of the arts and culture in South Africa
  • Knowledge in technical for the performing arts programmes in lighting, sound, AV, stage and production management.
  • People’s management skills and facilitation of artistic programmes
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Arts and Urban Management Programmes
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist in operations of technical equipment and systems in the performing arts and entertainment programmes, ensuring all equipment functions optimally during events and performances.
  • Provide support in various production roles, including coordinating with production teams, managing backstage activities.
  • Oversee and assist in all theatre areas including lights, sound board operation, carpentry, prop, set, production assistant, and wardrobe supervision.
  • Basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety requirements in the theatre and entertainment space.
  • Draft, submit and review technical reports that document equipment performance, technical issue, etc.
  • Assist in stage management tasks, including managing rehearsals, and ensuring all elements of the production are executed according to plan.
  • Lead and supervise technical practitioners, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective and efficient operation of technical elements.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote and preserve cultural heritage.
  • Assist in overlooking troubleshooting and maintenance of technical issues, and inventory management of technical equipment.
