Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Postgraduate Qualification in Environmental Management, Horticulture, Sports Management/Recreation Management or other relevant equivalent qualification
  • Municipal Finance Management Programme
  • 5–7 years' management experience in sports, recreation or municipal operational service delivery of which at least 4 years must have been at senior management level

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction in the planning, coordination and optimisation of sports, recreation, community facilities, sports infrastructure, environmental assets and associated operational services
  • Develop, implement and monitor sports, recreation, community development, aquatic and related programmes in line with approved strategies and service delivery objectives
  • Oversee the management, maintenance and utilisation of sports, recreation and community facilities, including sports infrastructure, sports fields, pitches, horticultural services, landscaping, turf grass maintenance and environmental management functions
  • Coordinate sporting, recreational and community events and facilitate partnerships with communities, sporting bodies and other stakeholders
  • Ensure sound governance, financial management, procurement, contract management, revenue enhancement and compliance with applicable legislation and municipal policies
  • Lead and manage human, financial and operational resources to ensure sustainable service delivery and organisational performances
