Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma (N/T/S) Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)/ equivalent NQF Level 6 Qualification
  • Qualified Trade Tested Electrician
  • Knowledge of Municipal Electrical Distribution Network and Metering
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • 3 years’ experience in similar environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the meter installation maintenance subsection
  • Manage the maintenance of prepayment meter, conventional meter, AMR direct driven and smart metering up to and including 3 phase 150A to maximise the municipal income and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Ensure that vending stations, thin client and management stations within Depot are operating correctly and efficiently
  • Conduct checks to ensure that all customers information, point of connection, meter details and consumer categories are recorded correctly in the vending system
  • Verify tariffs and implement revenue protection measures to maximise income for Council
  • Manage small revenue-based capital budget allocations of the specific area of responsibility
  • Ensure that meter and electrical installations comply with the relevant electrical by-laws and vending system data integrity
  • Apply specialist knowledge in the field of electricity 3 phase and single phase metering to ensure that CoE’s metering remains at a very high standard of accuracy
  • Manage the fleet, material and assets used and situated within the section to ensure that metering and administrative functions are executed at a high standard
  • Plan and design meter related infrastructure to ensure that it meets the demands
  • Comply with legislation and organisational policy to effectively contribute towards meeting organisational objectives
  • Apply a good work ethic to prevent financial losses
  • Ensure compliance with the Batho Pele principles, maintain good customer relations and efficient and productive service delivery
  • Apply a good work ethic to maintain a high level of productivity
