Minimum Requirements:

  • Non-renewable 6-month contract
  • Grade 10
  • Applicant must be a South African citizen.
  • Unemployed
  • Ability to read and write and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience of working in communities
  • Must be based in communities where they serve, i.e., ward-based (specify ward number)
  • Ability to capture and compile, daily, weekly, and monthly activities before it is submitted to Supervisor

Core Responsibilities:

  • Keeping the internal and external environment clean and orderly.
  • Ensure that the facility is insect, pest and dour-free.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, and washing of floors according to prescribed standards using colour coded mops, cloths and cleaning equipment.
  • Cleaning windows, blinds, and walls.
  • Damp dusting and cleaning and caring for furniture and equipment.
  • Changing, Sorting, washing, ironing and storage of clinic linen according to the set standards
  • Washing, oiling, and packing of medical equipment for sterilizing.
  • Cleaning blood and body fluid spills using the required Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment.
  • Maintaining of dustbins through frequent emptying (Internal and external)
  • 2-hourly cleaning and checking and refilling of toilets and completion of checklist.
  • Maintaining water coolers including filling up of clean drinking cups
  • Maintaining clean full kettles and urns and make refreshments.
  • Maintain clean defrosted refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, and cupboards according to standard.
  • Maintain safety standard when handling Medical Waste containers using the required Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment and report deviations of inappropriate disposal by health workers to the facility head.
  • Removing and replacing full medical waste containers while ensuring that containers are marked according to standard and using the required Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment.
  • Recording of full medical waste containers in the register and assisting Medical Waste Company on collection.
  • Cleaning of outer structures, such as Youth Friendly Service Structures, Medical Waste and General Waste Stores, garages, carports, paving and any external structures.
