Job Purpose:
To plan the routes and frequencies of the IRPTN buses based on the projection of demand and on the operating license of the SPV/VOC and communicating these to the bus operating company after approval thereof by the Senior Manager: Operations.
Minimum Requirements:
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Transport Management or Transport Economics, or Public Transport Operations or Operations Management
2 years' experience in either of the following field: Public transport operations, Bus scheduling and route planning, or Transport demand analysis of Fleet scheduling, or Operations Control Centre environments
Core Responsibilities:
Plan, compile and oversee monthly and weekly operational plans with daily detail of planned routes and frequencies.
Provide SPV/VOC with the weekly schedule in order for the latter to assign a bus number and specific driver to each service in the schedule, on a daily basis.
Receive the daily bus/driver schedule from the SPV/VOC.
Check and approve the SPV/VOC schedule.
Load the schedule received from the SPV/VOC onto the system.
Check and modifications of the schedule as necessitated by contingencies to inform future scheduling.
Balance the operational plan (schedule) with the financial analysis and economic projections of the revenues
Compile and provide daily reports to the Senior Manager: Operations, in respect of number, extent nature of modifications to the schedule.
Compile and provide daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Coordinate with routes planners, operators, finance on cost implications of schedule changes.
Provide data analysis on time performance and dwell times to adjust during headway and trip times.
Ensure that schedule comply with labour agreements.
Coordinate adjustments during incident delays.
Coordinate integration activities with the Operations Control Centre to support the implementation and optimisation of real-time scheduling systems.

current and agree to correct and update such

By submitting any Personal Information to the CoE in
any form I acknowledge that such conduct constitutes an
indefinite unconditional, specific and voluntary
consent to the processing of such Personal Information
in the following manner by the CoE and/or third
parties:
Personal Information may be shared by the CoE
with
Verification Information Suppliers for
verification or
other legitimate purposes;
Personal Information may be stored indefinitely
by
the CoE and/or the Verification Information
Suppliers.
I note that if the CoE has utilised the Personal
Information contrary to the Privacy and Data Protection
Conditions, I shall first resolve any concerns with the
CoE. If I am not satisfied with such process, I have
the right to lodge a complaint with the Information
Regulator.
I acknowledge that I may withdraw any consent provided
in terms of this Agreement and if so Personal
Information will only be processed if permitted under
the Privacy and Data Protection Conditions.
A copy of Personal Information kept by the CoE will be
furnished to me upon request in terms of the provisions
of POPI Act.
I unconditionally agree to indemnify the CoE and/or the
Verification Information Suppliers against any
liability that may result from the processing of
Personal Information. This includes unintentional
disclosures of such Personal Information to - or access
by unauthorized persons, and/or any reliance which may
inadvertently be placed on inaccurate Personal
Information provided to the CoE by myself and/or any
third parties.
I acknowledge that I have read and understand this
agreement and accept the conditions therein.
