Minimum Requirements:

· B Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) / Relevant NQF 7

· ECSA registered as Pr Eng./ Pr. Tech Eng./ Pr Cert Eng.

· Code B driver's license.

· 5 years' experience in the operation, maintenance and refurbishment of municipal electrical distribution networks

· Electrical Engineer's Certificate of Competency will be an added advantage.

Core Responsibilities:

· Manage the operations and maintenance of the total electrical distribution network with the Distribution Business Unit

· Develop Operations and Maintenance section operational and budget targets in support of tactical delivery plans and organisational strategic objectives in partnership with divisional leadership.

· Advise on strategic installations and support operations to either eliminate electrical network security risks or reduce the frequency or severity thereof.

· Continuously monitor quality to ensure that the highest required standards and conformance to specifications and codes are achieved.

· Manage operations and maintenance section personnel at a depot level and ensure optimal utilisation of personnel and create an acceptable work ethic and environment.

· Execute administrative functions to ensure proper documentation and record keeping.

· Manage the expenditure of the section budget and ensure effective implementation of supply chain management procurement measures.

· Ensure compliance with legislation and organisation policies and implementation of council resolutions.

· Manage contractors and consultants for the section maintenance and refurbishment and operations projects.

· Implement and maintain the department asset management strategy, policies and standards.

· Ensure that requirements of the section are budgeted for and that the budget is utilised efficiently and effectively.

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
