Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 10
  • Relevant experience in maintenance and operation of heavy specialized plant equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Physical ability to perform all work required

Core Responsibilities:

  • Execute all tasks given by the supervisor
  • Cutting top dressing and marking of sports field by using the appropriate machinery and equipment
  • Apply chemicals as instructed by immediate supervisor
  • Clean and store all machinery and horticultural equipment safely in a locked and safe storage facility
  • Maintain all ditches at relevant facilities by cutting grass, picking up hazardous object to safeguard machinery and personnel from harmful danger
  • Irrigate designated areas by mechanical, manual and automatic means by maintaining quality turf standards
  • Verbally report damages to machinery and equipment to the immediate supervisor
  • Ensure that all equipment and machinery is in good and safe working order
  • Ensure all activities are performed safely and in accordance to manufacturer’s specifications
  • Adhere to Batho Pele principles

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
