Job Purpose:

Contribute to the production of high-quality engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering practices and policies

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 7)
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a professional engineer or professional technologist
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in similar environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage and implement departmental construction of Roads and Stormwater infrastructure.
  • Manage consultants and contractors for implementation process of projects approved on budget
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, plans and accepted standards.
  • Provide various reports relating to work progress, SDBIP’s financial reporting and PMO reporting requirements etc. per area.
  • Site inspections and attendance of site meetings.
  • To ensure quality assurance on the delivery and implementation of projects
  • Ensure compliance with the construction regulations of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Acceptance of completed projects on behalf of the council
  • Interacting with community, councillors, developers, town planners, and consulting engineers.
  • Certifies payment certificates and invoices
  • Provide input on budget compilation
  • Ensuring optimum utilisation of resources.
  • Compilation of various monthly reports.
  • Ensuring effective administration at area level.
  • Monitor, oversee and drive the effective management of the department asset management system at area level.
  • Managing and aligning processes relating to contact obligations against general principles of law and statutory regulations.
  • Identification of potential risk and the management and mitigation thereof.
