Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 7 (B-Degree) in Disaster Management
  • Driver's Licence
  • 4-6 Years Experience in a Disaster Management Environment
  • DMISA Registration will serve as an Advantage

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the functions of the Disaster Management /Dispatching Centre in a region.
  • Manage the tasks in the regional office related to strategy, transformation, project implementation, norms and standards and intergovernmental liaison.
  • Co-originate the execution of Disaster Management in the region to address the Disaster Management Continuum.
  • Implement the marketing and awareness strategies and training programs in the region to educate and train community and all stakeholders in respect of Disaster Management.
  • Manage the Regional Disaster Management office to ensure that Disaster management activities as directed by the Disaster Management Act, Council policies are effected.
  • Implement established partnerships with multi-sectoral role players in accordance with the IDP, departmental as well as Divisional objectives.
  • Manage the Dispatching Centre in the region to ensure an effective and efficient communication system and service for Council, residents and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the human, financial and materials resources in the region.

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
