Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Information Systems / Geo-Informatics / GIS / GISc&T / Geography or relevant equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
  • Registration with SAGC
  • 3 years' experience in a similar environment
  • 3 years in Arcade, Python, FME, ArcGIS Enterprise Administration & LIDAR

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the City's spatial applications
  • Develop solutions such as API's, systems and applications to streamline operational process based on the City's needs on the ESRI platform
  • Use the latest ArcGIS technologies to design and develop customised spatial decision support systems such as web-based GIS, mobile applications, location based smart forms and dashboards based on departmental requirements
  • Ensure that developed skills are shared amongst team members where required
  • Provide maintenance to existing spatial information applications
  • Review, maintain, develop, and administer the City's spatial information systems by providing training and training material, data updates, data enhancements, system development, system administration, and technical support
  • Have a good understanding of spatial and non-spatial data and how it can be related and used to inform decision-making and produce new spatial products
  • Manage overall ArcGIS system implementation
  • Scan similar spatial information systems in the sector and use technologies to enhance the City's spatial information system
  • Governance and risk management to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and policies to minimise risk
  • Financial process to ensure compliance with the MFMA
  • Customer service orientation to ensure sound relations with the customer in relation to governance and compliance matters and to adhere to the Batho Pele principles

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
